Honda Integra Type R (DC2) at a Japanese used car auction
The Honda Integra Type R is a great looking little sports car made by Honda from 1985 till it was axed in 2006. Its also marketed in North America as the Acura Integra. This one is a DC2, Type R Integra, personally I think the best looking of them all. The Japanese Integras retained the long, rectangle headlights while the export models got smaller dual round headlights, I think the JDM version looks better.
The Honda Integra Type R (DC2) puts out almost 200hp from its 1800cc engine, has a close ratio 5 speed gear box and was universally praised for its handling. I know they come in white, black and yellow, the Type R may come in other colours…..someone smarter than I will have to chime in here.
The interiors look fantastic with the red Recaro seats (similar to the Honda Civic EK9 Type R), though I have also seen black Recaros. These red seats do typically get really grubby on the side bolsters although these were not too bad. Carbon fibre look interior trim rounds out the Honda Integra Type R look.
Apparently these DC5 Type R Integras were a homologation car for Honda racing, so due to the increased production costs they actually lost money on each unit they sold.
Condition on any performance oriented car similar to the Honda Integra Type R can vary a lot, and its quite common to see modified and accident repair units but if you are patient and choose wisely its possible to pick up a nice grade 4 DC2 for as little as JPY 500,000.
